arrangements for a British Battalion to be sent from Gibraltar to Hong Kong. Notwithstanding th ́t a Battalion from Gibraltar would take two months as compared with one month for a Battalion from India, this plan was preferred

as being a much more economical arrangement and one with which the Chief of the Imperial General Staff was understood to be

in agreement.

The general view was th t it would be irodvisable to make an announcement of these reinforcements, but that the information should be allowed to ie-k out as the moves

become known in the ordinary way.
